JOB SUMMARY:
- Reviews print and electronic materials selection tools for all
formats and compares selections with library catalog and
orders-in-process to avoid duplication.
- Performs collection develop activities including, generating a list
of potential resources in all formats to be purchased that follows
collection development policy, presenting selections to the Collection
Development Committee for approval, and processing and tracking orders
with vendors.
- Assists with analysis of the collection to ensure balance within the
collection, weighing variables such as subject distribution in
collection, timeliness, authority, date, and institutional program
needs.
- Maintains contact with faculty to ensure involvement in collection
development including, circulating selection lists to departments for
comments, notifying faculty of receipt of requested materials.
- Monitors expenditures within budget allocations and accreditation
mandates and maintains collection development expenditures records.
- Evaluates and communicates with vendors and selects vendors
according to collection, discount, delivery dates, and reliability.
- Provides assistance in other library departments, including the
circulation desk.
- Compiles & maintains statistics on purchases, gifts, and other
related data.
- Evaluates and recommends acquisition of materials from individuals,
organizations or other libraries and evaluates and recommends weeding
of library materials.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree. At least two year's experience in library, working
with collections.
- Good academic subject knowledge.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to use efficiently the library's automated system
(Innovative Interfaces).
- Ability to use vendors' Web-based ordering systems.
